We are the American Psychiatric Association Foundation. And we believe:

There is no health without mental health.

That’s why our mission is to promote the mental health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. We work to achieve this by:

Training school staff to support students with mental health concerns

Improving access to mental health care in the workplace

Addressing the overcriminalization of mental illness

Building bridges to care within faith communities

At the American Psychiatric Association Foundation, we support our communities through our programs, fellowships, awards, and grants that help direct resources where they are needed most.

We also work with schools, employers, the government, and community organizations to educate and promote mental wellness.

Unfortunately, there are still many people in the nation who are underserved when it comes to getting the mental health care they need. But we’re committed to solving this issue. Which is why we’re doubling down on our efforts with a new public service awareness campaign.

Our new campaign

While many are struggling with their mental health, far too few are seeking treatment. And so we’re launching a public awareness campaign to meet people where they are and inspire them to get help.

Our campaign will feature testimonial-style stories inspired by real people who are seeing (and feeling) the benefits of mental health care. The goal is to show people that mental health care works—and that it can work for them.
